The Kwara State Local Government Elections are underway today, September 21, 2024, across the state’s 16 local government areas and 193 wards.
According to Baba Okanla, Chairman of the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWSIEC), election materials and polling officials have been deployed to their respective stations.
Okanla urged residents to exercise their franchise in a peaceful and orderly manner, ensuring a hitch-free electoral process.
This development comes after a Federal High Court in Abuja vacated an interim order restraining the Kwara government from conducting the local government elections.
Justice Peter Lifu set aside the order, citing its expiration after lasting more than 14 days.
The court’s decision paved the way for the elections to proceed as scheduled.
