Tributes Pour In As Ajase-Ipo Lays To Rest Revered Matriarch, Alhaja Belawu Sulaiman

The usually quiet streets of Ajase-Ipo, Kwara State, were filled with somber faces and tearful eyes as the community gathered to bid farewell to their beloved matriarch, Alhaja Belawu Akanke Sulaiman.

9japarrot reports the revered mother of Professor Wale Sulaiman, a renowned neurosurgeon, who passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024 and was laid to rest on December 10th according to Islamic rites at the Ajasse-Ipo Muslim Cemetery.

A prayer session and sermon were held in her honor, attracting dignitaries and well-wishers from across Kwara State and beyond.

Speakers at the event lauded the deceased for her kindness, compassion, and dedication to her family and community.

Professor Wale Sulaiman, in his tribute, spoke fondly of his mother’s significant influence on his life and career. He described her as a devout Muslim who lived a life of service to others.

The Naibi Chief Imam of Ajasse-Ipo, Alhaji Yusuf Olatunji Afolayan, led the Janaza prayer and called on individuals and organizations to emulate the philanthropic spirit of the late Alhaja. He also urged politicians to prioritize the welfare of the less privileged.

Also speaking at the gathering, Alhaja Jumoke Mustapha (representative of RNZ Foundation) described the deceased as a lovely, caring mother who was keen to see the best out of her children.

On his part, Alhaji Yahaya Mudashiru from Offa said Alhaja Belawu Sulaiman would be remembered for her good service to humanity.

In a gesture of honor and remembrance, Alhaji Mudashiru Yahaya, donated Borehole to Ajasse Muslim Cemetery.

The funeral was attended by a host of dignitaries, including the Olupo of Ajasse-Ipo, Oba Ismail Yahaya Alebiosu represented by Olupo in council, Prof. Oba AbdulRahman, Capt. Isiaka Alao, Mrs. Jumoke Mustafa, Mr. Olaniyi Dada and representatives from the Orangun of Ila.

As the community mourns the loss of this respected matriarch, they continue to draw inspiration from her legacy of faith, love, and service.
