Recently, i was glancing through a search on my phone on the impacts of young lads from my constituency, one name consistently emerges with remarkable frequency and reverence, Barrister Titilope Akogun. When i digged further, information about new and lofty initiatives of empowerment and support were all I found. This led me to a question: Is Akogun truly from this Constituency and we lament daily about the quality of leadership in Kwara South?
Given his relentless efforts, the more pertinent question might be, why haven’t we implored him to step into the political arena to represent us?
Amofin Titilope Akogun stands out not just for being a youth but for his lofty passion of reaching out to people whether in form of educational or business empowerment.
He teaches how to fish and not just give fishes. I have been a beneficiary of one of his lofty initiatives and I must confess, he is loaded with ideas. When he commences advertisements of an idea under his Foundation, I have always asked myself, what has Amofin Akogun brought to us this time again? With time, he begins to explain them, ruthlessly circulating information about the initiative, and before you know it, becomes a household name. He is an example of Idea, passion and the future we have always craved for.
His initiatives, like the Igi Iwe Scheme(Education Tree), is a manifestation of his belief that education is not just an asset but a fundamental tool for life empowerment. His recent initiative on providing 151 Free JAMB scholarships underscores a vision where academic opportunities are accessible to those who might otherwise be left behind due to financial constraints.
His empowerment programmes have known and visible beneficiaries, not like some others that you just hear the advertisements and eventually do not know who and who benefitted from the initiative or the yardstick for picking beneficiaries.
A good strength of him, is his practice of always urging everyone to apply to become a beneficiary without considering party affiliations or whether you are close to him or even know him. I have heard this as well from a lot of people’s testimony.
Moreover, Akogun’s impact extends beyond the classroom. His visionary initiative; “Go Corporate” initiative , that established 40 new Small Scale business Owners in Kwara South last year or his “Oyinbo Farmer Scheme”, which empowered 101 beneficiaries in Food Export, Marketing, Sales, Branding and support grant of N50,000 to selected beneficiaries, exemplifies his commitment to empowering the youth.
By imparting valuable knowledge on export, sales, marketing, and branding, to over 101 participants and providing crucial funding to beneficiaries even while not in any public office, embodies the essence of a mentor who seeks to equip and uplift the next generation, offering them a lifeline to a brighter future.
This also demonstrates a multifaceted approach to human capital and community development, acknowledging the importance of agricultural sustainability alongside education.
Through these programs, he has shown a deep understanding of the diverse needs of our community, addressing them with tangible actions rather than mere promises by those who do not even know how to fulfill those promises.
The sheer volume and variety of his contributions are noteworthy by everyone in Kwara South.
Posts on Facebook, for instance, have recently read his ambitious project to sponsor 151 free JAMB forms, support JAMB registration, and has Courageously promised scholarships for any Igi Iwe Jambite that score 300 and above in Kwara South alongside distributing 5,000 educational materials to primary school pupils.
These efforts, which commenced on February 1, 2025, paint a picture of a leader who not only understands but actively works towards the upliftment of his community.
What makes Akogun a compelling candidate for political representation is his grassroots approach?
His lofty ideas of how to address the monstrous challenges confronting our region. He doesn’t wait for the political system to dictate his actions; instead, he leads by example, showing what leadership with innovation and integrity looks like. His initiatives are not politically motivated but are driven by a genuine desire to see his community and its residents thrive.
Imagine a young man that had developed passion for solving problems since 2017 via his BTA Foundation.
I knew him while he served as the Founding President of Kwara South Youth Development Organization (KWAYORG), an Organization he nurtured to become the voice and bride of young people in Kwara South. His ideas and innovations while he was President were legendary. It was always one human capital training or the other.
He loved consulting those that mattered which led to staging our first ever Kwara South Youth Conference in 2019 and our leaders started seeing us as being serious minded people with true leadership.
He stamped the advocacy of Sustainable empowerment, urging our Leaders to start considering sustainable empowerments to young people and not crumbs.
Himself and his team toured the length and breadth of our region, from Community Leaders to Political Office holders, to technocrats and everyone was really interested in Kwayorg.
I am truly proud of this young man.
He is truly a New breed, A New Star in Kwara South and has Many Reasons for Us to Support Him.
He is never an Accidental Leader and will truly contribute to the development of Kwara South.
This young man has what it takes to represent us at any level, not because of his political acumen but due to his proven track record of making a real difference!
His actions speak louder than any political manifesto could. They reflect a leader who is not only in tune with the needs of the people but is also proactive in addressing them.
Amofin Joseph Titilope Akogun’s name should not just be a keyword in our search for impactful local figures; it should be a call to action for us to rally behind him. Whether in education, agriculture, business development or direct community development, his contributions are too significant to ignore.
It’s time we extend an invitation for him to step into a role where he can leverage his capacity and capabilities on a larger scale, potentially transforming our community’s future for the better.
Let’s not just talk about Akogun; let’s make concerted efforts to have him represent us where it counts.
