Former NBC Director General, Tom Adaba Dies At 84


Professor Tom Adaba, the pioneering Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), has died at the age of 84.

Reports confirm that Adaba passed away on Saturday in Abuja. Born on July 2, 1941, he left a lasting impact on Nigeria’s broadcasting landscape.

Announcing the news, Adinoyi Joe Anivasa JP, Secretary of the Egbira Elders Forum Abuja, said:

“I feel sad to inform you that our elder and leader, Prof Tom A Adaba just answered the call of nature by giving up his ghost to the Lord this morning.

“Further details about his burial arrangements would be communicated later.

“We thank God for his life. May God have mercy on his shortcomings and grant his soul eternal peaceful rest in His Heavenly Kingdom, Amen.”
Adaba made history as the first Nigerian to serve as president of the African Council for Communication Education, a position he held between 1988 and 1992.
