The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Salihu Danladi, has confirmed that the House received the list of commissioner nominees as forwarded by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. This follows the allegation by a local tabloid that the letter the governor forwarded did not contain any list but rather a blank note.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Sheu Abdulkadir Yusuf, dismissed the allegation as baseless and urged the general public to disregard it. He said the House received an executive communication from the Governor, for the confirmation of twenty (20) Commissioner-nominees while seeking legislative approval for ten (10) Special Advisers.
Yusuf also clarified that the Assembly’s delay in reconvening has nothing to do with the list of commissioner nominees. He said the delay is a technical issue that will be sorted out soon.
The Speaker’s confirmation of the receipt of the list of commissioner nominees puts to rest the allegations that the governor sent a blank note to the Assembly. It also paves the way for the Assembly to begin the process of confirming the nominees.
