Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has inaugurated 18 newly appointed commissioners, consisting of 2 women and 16 men. The inauguration ceremony took place at the Council Chambers in the Government House, Gusau on Tuesday evening. After taking their oaths, the new appointees were immediately assigned portfolios.
During his speech, the Governor urged the commissioners to increase their efforts, as their productivity will be evaluated based on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). A spokesperson for the Governor, Sulaiman Bala Idris, stated that the 18 commissioners are experts in various professions.
The newly appointed commissioners were sworn in by the Chief Judge of Zamfara State, Justice Kulu Aliyu, on Tuesday evening. Governor Dauda Lawal emphasized the importance of establishing a strong working relationship and collaboration between ministries for the improvement of Zamfara State.
The Governor announced the following portfolios for the newly sworn-in commissioners: Justice – Abdula’aziz Sani Muhammad (SAN); Agriculture – Haruna Ya’u; Budget and Planning – Abdulmalik Gajam; Commerce, Industry and Tourism – Abdulrahman Muhammad Tumbido; Education, Science, and Technology – Mallam Wadatau Madawaki; Environment and Natural Resources – Mahmud Muhammad Abdullahi Bello Auta; Finance – Dr. Aisha MZ Anka.
Others include Information and Culture – Mannir Haidara; Housing and Urban Development – Hon. Kabiru Moyi; Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs – Engr. Ahmed Yandi; Religious Affairs – Sulaiman Adamu Gummi; Women Affairs and Social Development – Dr. Nafisa Muhammad Maradun; Works and Infrastructure – Lawal Barau; Youth and Development – Tasi’u Musa Shinkafi; Ministry of Internal Security – Amb. Bala Mai Riga.
Additionally, there are two ministries under the Office of the Governor, responsible for overseeing government policies. These are the Budget Implementation Unit/Office of the Governor, headed by Nasiru Ibrahim Zurmi, and the Humanitarian and Relief Matters/Office of the Governor, led by Salisu Musa Tsafe.
