••• Appeals for Statewide Support

Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar, representing Kwara North Senatorial District, has reiterated the zone’s unwavering unity and determination to secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in the upcoming 2027 general elections. His declaration was made at a strategic stakeholders’ meeting in Ilorin, organized by the APC State Working Committee members from the Kwara North zone.

The meeting, presided over by the Deputy Chairman of the APC in Kwara State, Alhaji Abdullahi Samari, served as a platform for aspirants from the region to align their interests, build internal unity, and consolidate efforts for a shared goal. Senator Umar emphasized that their quest is rooted in the principles of justice, equity, and fairness, advocating for a power rotation that would see a leader from Kwara North at the helm of the state’s affairs.

“We in Kwara North are not asking for charity; we are asking for fairness,” Senator Umar stated. “We are capable, we are prepared, and we are united. What we seek is trust – trust from our brothers and sisters across the state to allow Kwara North to also steer the affairs of our beloved state. We have always supported others in the past, and now we humbly seek reciprocal support.”

The Senator also praised the leadership of Alhaji Samari for facilitating a cohesive environment for dialogue among the aspirants. He affirmed his commitment to working within the party’s framework to achieve their objective.

Key figures from the region, including the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi Salihu; the Makama of Lafiagi, Alhaji Tajudeen Audu; and the Dan Iyan Kaiama, Alhaji Haliru Mahmud Dantsoho, all spoke in support of the Kwara North governorship bid. They unanimously refuted any suggestions of disunity within the zone and highlighted the collective focus on regional interest over personal ambition.

Senator Umar commended the aspirants for their mature approach, which he described as essential for negotiating from a position of strength.

He concluded by pledging continued engagement with stakeholders across the state and expressed confidence that the APC would ultimately make a just decision that benefits the entire state.
