Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, expressed immense joy and pride as he celebrated two historic victories for Kwara State: Kwara United FC’s win of the 2025 President Federation Cup and the state’s contingent’s triumph at the Senior President Debate Competition.
In a personal statement released on June 28, 2025, Governor AbdulRazaq highlighted the significance of the football club’s win, noting that it is the first time a team from Kwara State has lifted the prestigious trophy since the state’s creation in 1967. He personally joined the “Harmony Boys” in their celebration, applauding the players, coaching crew, and management for their remarkable achievement.
“This win again testifies to the power of team spirit, discipline, determination, and grit,” the Governor stated.
He extended his gratitude to the people of Kwara, both at home and in the diaspora, for their unwavering support for the team.
The Governor’s jubilation was compounded by the news of another significant victory: the state’s contingent to the Senior President Debate Competition emerged as the national champion for the first time ever. He noted that this victory is not a mere coincidence, but part of a consistent winning streak, as pupils under the State Universal Basic Education have also been national champions in the President School Debate Competition for three consecutive editions.
Governor AbdulRazaq emphasized that these achievements are deserving fruits of hard work and strategic investments in youth development, sports, education, and other key sectors of the economy.
He congratulated all Kwarans on these accomplishments and expressed his administration’s commitment to continuing to put the state in a positive spotlight both in Nigeria and across the world.
