
His Royal Majesty, Oba Joel Olaniyi Oyatoye Titiloye Olufayo II, the Oloro of Oro Kingdom, has extended his warmest congratulations to His Imperial Majesty, Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade I, the Alaafin of Oyo, Iku Baba Yeye, on the auspicious occasion of his 50th birthday anniversary.
In a personal statement released to the media on Thursday, Oba Oyatoye extolled the revered monarch for his uncommon leadership traits and his vision for a modern, driven Yoruba cultural heritage society, which he believes solidifies Oba Owoade’s capacity as the Leader of all Yoruba traditional rulers.
Oloro acknowledged Oba Owoade as a wonderful father, friend, and colleague, recalling their shared moments from their days in Monitoba, Canada.
He added that since Oba Owoade’s ascension to the royal throne, he has consistently displayed remarkable capacity and ability as a father figure for all Yoruba races.
“My journey with His Imperial Majesty didn’t start today, and this has given me the opportunity to know him deeply and witness his unwavering commitment to promoting Yoruba cultural values and heritage. I have also seen his ‘can-do’ spirit in unifying people across divides to foster growth and development,” Oba Oyatoye stated.
“On the occasion of your 50th birthday, I join well-wishers, sons, and daughters of Oro Kingdom across the globe to celebrate Your Imperial Majesty,” the statement continued.
“Since your ascension to the throne as Alaafin of Oyo, you have distinguished yourself as not just the custodian of the palace, but as the custodian of Yoruba heritage and values. This is evident in your commitment to promoting national cohesion between traditional councils, government, and relevant stakeholders, all towards stabilizing our nation’s economic growth and fostering peace for national progress.”
