An old video featuring the former Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has resurfaced, appearing to corroborate recent assertions made by All Progressives Congress (APC) Chieftain and Founder, Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT) Movement Nigeria, Otunba Biodun Ajiboye.
The resurfaced video casts a new light on El-Rufai’s continued public criticisms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
During a recent and widely circulated interview on AriseTV, Otunba Ajiboye had strongly asserted that El-Rufai’s outbursts against the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration is birthed out of anger and personal vendetta and not in the interest of the masses and the Nation in general.
He further added that El-Rufai’s alleged love for power can drive him to do anything within his reach and what he does is to disrupt everything and make everybody look like an idiot when he doesn’t get what he wants.
“That is exactly who El-Rufai is. We all know how much he loves power, not today,” Otunba Ajiboye stated during the interview.
The old video obtained by this medium features El-Rufai himself, making statements that resonate deeply with Ajiboye’s current claims.
In the video, El-Rufai is heard saying: “We have no politics of public interest or public goods.”
“And you know the politicians proudly tell you that politics is about interest. If they don’t get what they want, they are ready to collapse the system”, He said.
El-Rufai continued in the old footage, asserting that every military coup in Nigeria’s history was engineered by civilians who had lost elections, either rightly or wrongly.
He further elaborated on this perceived political culture, saying if a politician contests for a position and did not win, he or she will not support a party member that got the nomination, rather, they will move to the opposition and ensure that the person that defeated them, fair and square loses the election.
“So, we have a political culture where the primacy of personal interest trumps everything else. Now, what is the difference between human beings and animals? So it is with most Nigerian politicians. Everyone for himself. No one for the country. No one even for the party”, he said.
These past statements by the former Kaduna Governor is a justification of all assertions made about him by Otunba Biodun Ajiboye during his AriseTV appearance.

Critics suggest that the resurfaced video further solidifies the argument that El-Rufai’s recent outbursts against the Tinubu-led administration are motivated by personal vendetta and are a confirmation of his character when he finds himself out of power.
