Kwara Coding Programme Summer Holiday Edition Kicks Off Tomorrow

The Kwara State Government has officially announced the commencement of the Summer Holiday Edition of the Kwara Coding and Digital Literacy Programme, with the second phase set to begin on Monday, August 4, 2025.

This phase, focusing on Coding and Innovation Thinking, will take place across all participating public schools in the state.

This exciting new phase is a continuation of the successful first phase, which introduced students to foundational digital literacy skills. The Summer Holiday Edition is designed to advance their learning by equipping young learners with practical coding skills, critical thinking, and the ability to develop innovative solutions for a technology-driven world.

According to a statement from the Office of the Special Assistant on Digital Innovation, the programme highlights include:

* Hands-on Coding Fundamentals: Students will be introduced to programming languages such as Python and Scratch, enabling them to create simple applications and games while understanding the logic behind coding.

* Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving: Through real-world challenges, learners will develop the ability to analyze problems, brainstorm solutions, and apply computational thinking to everyday scenarios.

* Creativity & Digital Confidence: Project-based learning will encourage students to express their creativity, build digital portfolios, and gain confidence in using technology as a tool for innovation.

The programme, under the guidance of experienced instructors and dedicated supervisors, is designed to be inclusive, ensuring that every student, regardless of their background, feels empowered and inspired to explore the possibilities of the digital age.

To maintain the highest standards of learning, a dedicated monitoring team, comprising representatives from the Kwara State Government House, the Ministry of Education & Human Capital Development, and the Business Innovation and Technology Unit, will oversee implementation across all learning centers. This team’s mandate is to ensure quality, consistency, and equitable access for all participants.

The state government emphasizes that the initiative goes beyond basic coding, aiming to cultivate problem-solving capabilities, innovative thinking, and leadership skills among participants to prepare them for the digital era. This initiative underscores the administration’s focused commitment to nurturing a future-ready generation capable of competing and excelling in the global digital economy, thereby laying a strong foundation for sustainable development and technological advancement.

Parents, guardians, and school administrators have been encouraged to ensure that participating students are prepared for this transformative learning experience, as the state works towards building a brighter, digitally inclusive future for Kwara.
