SAS Foundation Unveils 100 Student Ambassadors, Launches Scholarship Grant in Kwara

The Saleeman Adedoyin Saleeman (SAS) Foundation has unveiled over 100 student ambassadors as part of its Project Tutored Summer School initiative, reaffirming its commitment to the continuous empowerment of young people in Kwara State.

The ambassadors, drawn from underserved communities in Ilorin, successfully completed three weeks of intensive training in digital literacy, leadership, financial literacy, soft skills, and vocational crafts such as shoe making, bead making, tie-and-dye, and soap production. The initiative was carried out in partnership with international NGOs Evergreen Initiative and SheBuildLives.

Speaking during the unveiling ceremony, the Founder and Chairman of SAS Foundation, Engr. Saleeman Adedoyin Saleeman, described the ambassadors as “torchbearers of knowledge and positive change”, urging them to extend their newly acquired skills to peers and members of their communities.

In a major announcement, Engr. Adedoyin also launched the SAS Foundation Scholarship Grant, a special education support programme designed to provide full or partial scholarships to outstanding students from Kwara State who have demonstrated exceptional performance, dedication, and leadership potential. The grant aims to remove financial barriers to education, enabling beneficiaries to pursue their academic dreams in secondary schools, universities, and vocational institutions.

“Education remains the most powerful tool for personal and community transformation. Through this scholarship grant, we are not only rewarding excellence but also investing in the next generation of leaders who will drive progress in Kwara State and Nigeria at large,” he said.

He assured the student ambassadors that the foundation would always keep them at the forefront of its activities in Kwara State and beyond, promising mentorship, access to future training, and opportunities to participate in community development projects.

The Project Coordinator, Mr. Saheed Saliu, commended the founder for his passion and dedication to youth development. He noted that the ambassadors’ performance in both academic and vocational assessments during the programme demonstrated their readiness to make meaningful contributions to society.

The event also featured an exhibition of products made by the students, including hand-crafted beads, tie-and-dye fabrics, and organic soaps, showcasing the practical impact of the training.

The SAS Foundation says Project Tutored is part of its broader mission to address educational and skill gaps in underserved communities while promoting values of leadership, innovation, and service among young people.

This newspaper recalls that the Mai Martaba Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Chiefs, HRH Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, recently described Engr. Adedoyin as a “shining example of Ilorin’s promising future”. The revered monarch lauded his dedication to humanitarian service, stating that young leaders like him embody the generosity and progressive spirit needed to uplift society.
