Kwara Governor Celebrates Lafiagi-Born Scientist, Dr. Adam Abdullahi, on Winning Prestigious Global HIV Grant

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq heartily congratulates Lafiagi-born Nigeria’s infection and global health scientist Dr. Adam Hussein Abdullahi PhD. on his winning the Collaborative Initiative for Paediatric HIV Education and Research (CIPHER) Grant.

Valued at $150,000, the CIPHER Grant was awarded to four researchers worldwide after a competitive process involving at least 1,000 applicants.

Abdullahi, a child of Dr. Abdullahi Amanah, president of the Lafiagi Descendants’ Development Union (LADDU), is one of the two African recipients of the grant in this cycle. The recipient is a former Harvard Takemi Fellow and Research Associate at the University of Cambridge, with his research areas including SARS-CoV-2 vaccine immunogenicity in West Africa and Mpox transmission risks in Nigeria.

Governor AbdulRazaq congratulates Dr. Abdullahi on the huge feat, which he says is a reward for his years of research and professional commitment to making a difference in the global efforts to tackle HIV pandemic.

The Governor urges Dr. Abdullahi to remain committed to his humanitarian mission of helping young children lead meaningful lives despite their HIV status.

“We are proud of the achievements of Dr. Adam Hussein Abdullahi, and we wish him many years of greater breakthroughs and recognitions in his field,” according to the Governor.
