
The Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State, has unveiled OKIN EV1, Nigeria’s first locally built electric car. The solar-powered vehicle can travel 125 km on a full charge, enough for a round trip between Offa and Ilorin.
According to the Kwara Eaglet NG reports that it Equipped with a touchscreen display and reverse camera, the car was developed in under six months by a dedicated team led by Engr. Dr. Olufemi Oluseye Kehinde.
However, the institution plans to refine the prototype before moving into mass production, a step expected to boost sustainable transportation in Nigeria.
