Odetundun Felicitates Nigerians on Independence Day, Calls for Renewed Commitment to Unity and Peaceful Coexistence

As Nigeria marks her 65th Independence Anniversary, the Member representing Irepodun Constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Shola Odetundun, has congratulated Nigerians for their resilience, courage, and unwavering faith in the country despite challenges faced over the years.

In his Independence Day goodwill message, Hon. Odetundun described October 1st as a day of reflection on the sacrifices of our founding fathers, the progress achieved as a nation, and the collective responsibility of citizens and leaders to secure a brighter future for generations to come.

While noting the peaceful and accommodating nature of Kwara State, Hon. Odetundun expressed deep concern over the recent security threats in parts of Kwara South, particularly the cases of kidnapping and armed banditry that have disturbed the serenity of some communities.

He assured his constituents that government at all levels is committed to addressing these challenges through enhanced security collaboration, community vigilance, and empowerment initiatives designed to tackle the root causes of insecurity.

“Our people have always been known for peace, hard work, and unity. I want to assure you that measures are being taken to restore confidence, protect lives and property, and safeguard the peaceful nature of our state. Together, we shall overcome this phase,” he said.

Hon. Odetundun urged the people of Irepodun Constituency and Kwara South to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and supportive of security agencies, while also praying for divine protection and continued peace in the land.

He concluded by calling on Nigerians to embrace unity, tolerance, and patriotism as essential values that will sustain the country’s democratic journey and ensure that the sacrifices of our heroes past are not in vain.

Happy Independence Day, Nigeria.
