
The Senator representing Kwara North Senatorial District, Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar, has extended his heartfelt felicitations to His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Abdullahi Sabi Idris, OFR (Kotokotogi II), the Emir of Gwanara, on the occasion of this year’s Gaani Festival.
In a statement personally signed by the Senator and made available to 9japarrot media, he described the Gaani Festival as a significant cultural heritage that reflects the rich traditions, unity, and shared history of the Borgu people, as well as their unwavering commitment to peace and progress.
Senator Sadiq commended the Emir for his exemplary leadership, wisdom, and continuous efforts in fostering harmony, development, and cultural preservation within the Gwanara Emirate and across Kwara North.
> “The Gaani Festival is not just a celebration; it is a reminder of our collective identity and a symbol of the peace, unity, and resilience that define the people of Gwanara and the entire Kwara North region,” the statement read in part.
He further prayed for the continued good health and long reign of the Emir, as well as lasting peace and prosperity for the people of Gwanara Emirate.
Senator Sadiq also reaffirmed his commitment to working with traditional institutions to promote cultural development, community empowerment, and social cohesion across Kwara North.
“As we celebrate this year’s Gaani Festival, let us renew our resolve to sustain our heritage and support one another in the collective pursuit of a more prosperous Kwara North,” he added.
