Labour Party Inaugurates Caretaker Committee In Taraba

 

The Taraba State chapter of the Labour Party, LP, has inaugurated a caretaker committee to steer the party’s affairs following the expiration of the tenure of its previous executives.

The inauguration ceremony, which took place on Monday at the party’s state secretariat in Jalingo, was witnessed by party leaders, members, and supporters.

The outgoing Chairperson, Dr. (Mrs.) Esther Johnson Gulmu, who now serves as Deputy National Vice Chairman, Northeast. described the exercise as more than a formal transition.

She said it represents a “moment of reflection, gratitude, and peaceful transition of leadership,” reaffirming the party’s commitment to democratic principles.

Gulmu commended the outgoing executive for their service and congratulated the newly appointed officials, urging them to work together to consolidate the party’s presence and influence across the state.

In his acceptance speech, the new caretaker chairman, Rev. Simon Zubairu, applauded the party’s National Secretariat for the confidence reposed in the team.

He also pledged to justify the trust and lauded Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas’ peace initiatives, promising a leadership focused on unity and progress.

Other members of the caretaker committee include Augustine Bazin, James Benjamin, Andrew Audu, Deborah Chenny, Lydia Johnson, Emmanuel Peter, Zinox Enoch, Buba Yaro, and Hajiya Fatima Muhammed.

Party members who spoke to Daily Post, expressed optimism about the future of the Labour Party in Taraba, pledging their full support to the new leadership.
