The Management of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, has officially approved the appointment of Dr. Fasilat Olajumoke Rafiu as the pioneer Sub-Dean of the new Faculty of Environmental Sciences, located at the University’s Osi Campus in Ekiti Local Government Area.
The appointment, which took effect from October 10, 2025, was approved in a press statement made available to 9japarrot media by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh Luqman Alade Jimoh, and formally announced and signed by the Registrar, Dr. Kikelomo Saleh.
The new Faculty of Environmental Sciences, which houses departments like Geography & Remote Sensing, Urban & Regional Planning, and Estate Management, is a major component of the recently commissioned Osi Campus, representing a significant step towards the full realization of KWASU’s multi-campus vision.
Announcing the appointment, the Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences and Head of Osi Campus, Professor Binta A. Sulyman, expressed immense confidence in Dr. Rafiu’s ability to handle the new responsibilities.

Dr. Rafiu, a faculty member in Geography and Remote Sensing and a researcher with a focus on climate change adaptation, food security, and environmental management, is expected to bring her wealth of academic and administrative experience to bear in establishing the foundational structures of the new faculty at the Osi Campus.
Professor Sulyman concluded by calling on the entire staff and students of the Faculty and the Osi Campus community to join in congratulating Dr. Rafiu on her meritorious appointment.
