Senator representing Abia North Senatorial district on Thursday joined his colleagues at the Nigerian Senate to participate in the scrutiny and screening of the nominees for the Federal Character Commission forwarded by President Tinubu.
The thorough screening conducted by the Senate Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Affairs was led by its Chairman, Senator Allwell Onyeaoh representing Rivers East Senatorial district.
The former Abia State Governor, Orji Kalu who participated in the screening process, emphasized the importance of competence and readiness to serve the nation in line with constitutional principles of equity and representation, which the commission is mandated to uphold.
During plenary, Kalu contributed to discussions on key bills aimed at strengthening governance and institutional accountability, including the Armed Forces Act Repeal and Re-enactment Bill, the Sheriffs and Civil Process Act Amendment Bill, and the Chartered Institute of Revenue and Fiscal Management Establishment Bill.
Confirming this development via a terse statement made available to 9japarrot media, Senator Kalu reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening institutions, enhancing public service delivery, and driving meaningful progress for Nigerians.
“I will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that our legislative duties translate into tangible benefits for the people, particularly in the areas of infrastructure development, education, and healthcare,” Kalu said.
