62 Kwarans Gain Federal Appointments at FUHSI Through Prof. Wale Sulaiman’s Intervention

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun (FUHSI), Prof. Wale Sulaiman, CON, has facilitated the employment of 62 qualified Kwara indigenes into the University, reaffirming his commitment to inclusive development, youth empowerment, and human capital advancement in the state.

Prof. Sulaiman received a delegation of 32 out of the 62 newly appointed Kwara-born staff during a courtesy visit to his office on Wednesday. The beneficiaries, drawn from various local government areas of Kwara State, expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to serve the institution and contribute to its mandate of producing world-class health professionals.
They commended the inclusive and people-centred leadership style of the Pro-Chancellor and the University management, noting that the gesture reflects a deliberate effort to ensure that qualified Kwarans are not left behind in the growth trajectory of the young but fast-rising institution.

Addressing the delegation, Prof. Sulaiman congratulated the newly employed staff and described their appointments as well-deserved. He explained that while the recent recruitment exercise attracted competent candidates from across the federation, conscious efforts were made to ensure fair representation and meaningful inclusion of qualified indigenes of Kwara State.

He urged the appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them through professionalism, excellence, discipline, and strong work ethics, reminding them that they are ambassadors of Kwara State, widely regarded as the “State of Harmony.” According to him, integrity and dedication to service must remain their guiding values as they build their careers at FUHSI.

Prof. Sulaiman reiterated his open-door policy and unwavering commitment to staff and student welfare, encouraging continuous engagement through the University’s principal officers. He also highlighted his recent donation of two buses to the institution as part of ongoing efforts to ease mobility for staff and students, adding that he remains ready to deploy his personal resources and influence to position FUHSI among the leading health sciences universities in Africa.


The Acting Director of Works and Physical Planning, Engr. Saheed T. Mohammed, praised Prof. Sulaiman’s leadership, describing him as a transformational figure whose interventions have significantly accelerated the University’s growth. He also commended the synergy among the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Akeem Lasisi; the Registrar, Mr. Kassim Kayode Babamale; and other principal officers for sustaining institutional progress.
Similarly, the Head of Human Resources, Mr. Olayiwola, charged the newly appointed staff to uphold the University’s standards with integrity, diligence, and professionalism. He appreciated the Pro-Chancellor for personally receiving the staff and for his consistent support for their welfare and career development.

It was also noted that out of the 1,023 students admitted into FUHSI for the 2025/2026 academic session, 106 are indigenes of Kwara State, further underscoring Prof. Sulaiman’s commitment to expanding opportunities for the people of the state.
