AFCON 2025: Sen Orji  Kalu Salutes Nigeria’s Unbreakable Spirit

The African Pillar of Sports and Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has warmly congratulated the Super Eagles of Nigeria on their impressive victory over Egypt to secure the bronze medal at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

In a statement obtained from his verified Facebook page on Sunday , the former Governor of Abia State described the Super Eagles’ performance throughout the tournament as inspiring, courageous, and worthy of national pride, noting that the win against a football powerhouse like Egypt underscores Nigeria’s enduring strength and pedigree in African football.

According to Senator Kalu, the third-place finish is not merely about the bronze medal but about the character, resilience, and fighting spirit displayed by the team in the face of intense pressure and high expectations from millions of Nigerians across the globe.

“The Super Eagles have once again shown that Nigerian football is built on resilience, skill, and an unyielding desire to succeed. Beating Egypt to clinch the bronze medal is a remarkable achievement that reflects the hard work of the players, the tactical depth of the technical crew, and the unwavering support of Nigerians,” the statement read.

Senator Kalu commended the players for bouncing back strongly after the semi-final setback, stressing that football, like life, is not always about perfection but about the ability to rise after disappointment. He added that the team’s response in the third-place match demonstrated maturity, unity, and a winning mentality that bodes well for the future of Nigerian football.

The former Senate Chief Whip also praised the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the coaching crew, and all stakeholders for their roles in ensuring a competitive outing at the continental showpiece, urging them to build on the positives recorded at AFCON 2025.

Kalu further called on Nigerians to continue supporting the Super Eagles, noting that the team has once again united the country and lifted national morale through their performance on the continental stage.

“The Super Eagles have done Nigeria proud. This bronze medal is a testament that Nigeria remains a dominant force in African football. With sustained support, discipline, and investment in grassroots development, greater glory awaits our national teams,” he added.

The African Pillar of Sports concluded by wishing the players continued success in their careers and reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the growth and development of sports in Nigeria.
