Oloriegbe Condemns Kaiama Killings, Urges Vigilance and Unity

SenatorDr. Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, former lawmaker and Chairman of the Governing Council of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), has expressed deep shock and outrage over the barbaric killings in Woro and Nuku communities of Kaiama Local Government Area, Kwara State.

In a statement issued on Thursday, 5th February 2026, Oloriegbe described the attack as a dastardly act that brutally claimed innocent lives and shattered the peace of Kwara North communities, urging Nigerians and Kwarans alike to condemn the violence in the strongest terms. He stressed that nothing justifies such cruelty, whether motivated by extremism, criminality, or false ideology.

“My heart goes out to the Emir of Kaiama, the affected communities, the surviving families and relatives of the victims, and indeed the entire people of Kwara North Senatorial District, who are mourning yet another painful loss. This tragedy is not just a local calamity; it is a deep wound on the conscience of our state and our nation,” he said, praying for the repose of the departed and comfort for the bereaved.

Oloriegbe commended the Kwara State Government, led by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, for its swift response, presence on the ground, and prompt humanitarian interventions. He also lauded President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for approving decisive security measures, including the deployment of military assets to the affected areas, describing these actions as evidence of the seriousness of purpose and commitment to restoring peace.

While acknowledging the immediate security response, the NHIA Chairman highlighted the broader security challenges facing communities in forested and border regions. He called for sustained security presence, improved intelligence gathering, and closer collaboration between communities and security agencies.

Oloriegbe further reassured the people of Kwara State that the prevailing security challenges can and will be addressed. He urged residents to remain united, vigilant, and resolute, emphasising the importance of reporting suspicious activities and cooperating with security agencies to help neutralise threats.

“This is a trying moment for Kwara North and for our state, but it must also be a moment of resolve. Together, standing as one people, we will overcome this darkness and reclaim the peace, safety, and dignity our communities deserve,” he concluded.
