••• Cites Failed Otoge Promises, Family Dominance; Hails ADC as the Only Viable Alternative to Salvage Kwara

The Chairman of the Kwara Redemption Movement (KRM) and a leading voice of the 2019 ‘Otoge’ revolution, Chief Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo has declared the group’s mission to unseat the current administration.
The declaration was made during the Movement’s General Meeting held in Ilorin on Saturday, where Chief Akogun, alongside over 50,000 members, officially dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The move to the ADC followed a formal motion moved by the former Director General, Bureau of Land to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Barrister Bolaji Alabi Edun.

Barrister Edun argued that the ADC is currently the only viable platform with the capacity and force to challenge the ruling party. He noted that while the APC has successfully wrecked the once-formidable PDP, the ADC stands as the only visible vehicle capable of salvaging Kwarans and the nation at large in 2027.
Seconding the motion, Hon. Gani Onikere emphasized that political participation is a collective responsibility, quoting the adage “If good people refuse to take leadership, idiots will take over.”

He described the current administration’s leadership as a sorry case, despite the Movement’s full support that enthroned them in 2019.
Speaking earlier, the KRM Convener, Chief Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo, lamented that the APC in Kwara State has transitioned into a one-man/family-dominated party.

He recalled that KRM with over 50,000 registered members now, was formed in February 2024 to refocus the state toward the genuine change envisioned by the ‘Otoge’ struggle, which he claimed has now been aborted by the current leadership.
“The inheritors of the OTOGE struggle have made nonsense of what we fought for and thereby complicated the essence of our efforts. There was no internal mechanism to check misgovernment. All the evils we earlier fought against are manifesting in the present system. People of integrity should dissociate themselves from deception passed for governance in Kwara.” He said.
He further noted that for two years, KRM has used radio programs to raise political consciousness, but the need for a new platform became inevitable to accommodate alternative views and escape the family-centric hold on the APC.
He added that following the clear adoption of a new party to actualize their motives, it’s incumbent on all members of the movement to join ADC by registering at their respective wards.
In her remarks, Chief Mrs. Elizabeth Gunu, KRM Leader from Kwara North decried the poor management of insecurities in the region, labeling it as a sign of government ineptitude.

She expressed disappointment in those praising the government despite the lack of tangible development and the rising rate of insurgency in the North.
Chief Gunu added that the only good thing Kwarans can do for themselves is to vote out the current govt and party comes 2027.
A KRM Leader from Kwara Central, Alhaji Abdulganiyyu Jaji recalled the huge price paid by the movement’s leaders who were denied the APC gubernatorial ticket in 2019.

He noted that the group chose not to seek legal redress then for the sake of the people’s interests, but the APC has paid back in the wrong way by deviating from its core mandate.
9japarrot reports that the event drew a crowd of heavyweight political figures and community leaders, including; Hon. Moshood Mustapha, a Former Federal Lawmaker and Wakilin Ngeri of Ilorin Emirate, Alhaji Umar Idris, Wakilin Lafiagi, KRM Ward, LGA, and Senatorial Leaders, Prominent ‘Otoge’ voices and activists.
