Hon. Gbenga Oyekunle, popularly known as Gbenga Power, a leading aspirant for the Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency and Chairman of the Gbenga Power Foundation, has received widespread commendations following the drilling of a motorized borehole in Okanle community, Ifelodun Local Government Area.
The borehole project, which commenced on Wednesday, April 8, at the NSCDC office in Okanle, has brought renewed hope and relief to residents, many of whom have long faced challenges accessing clean and potable water.
Speaking on the development, the Personal Assistant to Hon. Gbenga Oyekunle, Mr Lateef Olarewaju noted that the initiative is part of the Foundation’s broader commitment to improving the welfare of communities across the constituency and Kwara South at large.
According to him, the newly completed project brings the total number of motorized boreholes executed by the Gbenga Power Foundation to 32 across Kwara South. He added that the Foundation has also undertaken other impactful interventions, including the construction of modern toilet facilities at Omo Ibile Igbomina in Ganmo.
“This effort reflects Hon. Gbenga Power’s consistent commitment as a philanthropist and a strong advocate for grassroots development. These projects are personally driven to complement ongoing infrastructural strides of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq,” he stated.
Community members who spoke on the development expressed deep appreciation for the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful.
Mallam Azeez Eleko, a community leader, commended Hon. Gbenga Power for his consistent support, noting that beyond infrastructural projects, he has also positively impacted lives through annual food distribution and empowerment programmes with his personal finances.
“His contributions to our community are visible and meaningful. We fully support his aspirations and pray for his continued success,” he said.
Similarly, Seriki Abdulazeez Olalekan described the water project as a critical intervention, especially at a time when access to clean water remains a pressing need for many households.
