Hon. Olushola Odetundun, member representing Irepodun Constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly has hosted a mega empowerment programme donating various Empowerment tools to his Constituents.
The event, held at the SDA Primary School in Omu-Aran, saw the distribution of multi-million naira worth of vocational equipment and cash grants to over 350 constituents, sparking a widespread call for the lawmaker’s re-election in 2027.
Speaking at the event while delivering his goodwill message, Chairman of the Irepodun APC Elders Caucus,Prince Olarewaju Shuaib compared Odetundun’s first term to a captivating film.
“There are some films you watch and feel compelled to see again because of how good and captivating they are” He said.
He added that Hon. Odetundun’s performance is one of such the constituents want to ‘watch it again’ come 2027,” effectively endorsing the lawmaker for a second term citing his sterling performance.
Adding to the discourse, Major General Olayemi Lasisi Abidoye (Rtd) urged the Constituents to pay back the lawmaker’s quality service with votes in the next election cycle.
He added that Irepodun is known for Unity and for always producing quality Representatives, urging a full support for him to continue the good he started already.
The empowerment, which targeted small business owners, farmers, and youths, featured an impressive array of items, including: 10 Laptopstech enthusiasts, 11 Deep Freezers and 11 Power Generators, 10 Grinding Machines and 11 Water Pumps, 50 Sprayers for local farmers, 11 Hair Dryers and 20 Professional Clippers.
The event also featured Cash Donations to over 350 individuals, including a landmark N1 million donation each to the League of Imams and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the local government.
Addressing the gathering earlier, Hon. Odetundun, who is also the Chairman of the House Committee on Business Innovation and Women Affairs, reeled out a long list of projects executed within his first three years.
These include the provision of boreholes in Oro, Omu-Aran, and Agbonda, the donation of computer sets to Okeya-Ipo High School and Ogbo Grammar School, and the construction of market shops in Arandun, among others.
“In my almost three years in the House our administration has been committed to excellent Legislative functions and people’s oriented interventions.
“These tools and cash will enable beneficiaries to start small businesses to support their families in these challenging times,” Odetundun added.
He further urged beneficiaries to make good use of the tools for their developmental growths.
He expressed profound appreciation to Kwara Gov, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his guidance, leadership and achievements in office.
In the same vein, he paid special tributes to the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu and his colleagues for their wonderful support that has made his tenure in the Assembly worth its while.
The Lawmaker salute the leadership of the party, the All-Progressives Congress (APC) at his ward, local government and state levels for their unparalleled support.
The event was graced by top-tier traditional rulers, including the Oloro of Oro, HRM Oba Joel Olaniyi Oyatoye Titiloye Olufayo II, and the Olomu of Omu-Aran, HRM Oba Abdulraheem Oladele Adeoti both of whom performed the symbolic presentation of cash to religious leaders.
Other prominent stakeholders in attendance included the APC National Ex-officio, Mrs. Opawoye Oluwatoyin (Ph.D), and the Irepodun Local Government Chairman,Hon. Azeez Tinuola Yakubu, Hon. Danbaba among others.
The atmosphere was filled with emotion as beneficiaries took turns to pray for the lawmaker.
A beneficiary who received a deep freezer and a generator, could barely hide her joy.
“I have been struggling to keep my drinks cold for months. Today, Odetundun has given me a new life. We are not just supporting him; we are following him to 2027 and beyond,” she said.
Another beneficiary,who received a laptop said Many politicians make promises and disappear.
Hon. Shola Odetundun is different. He came back to Omu-Aran to show us that our votes were not in vain. He always has our total support, He added.
