All Progressives Congress (APC) Kwara State Chapter has said that the Former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki will not escape the consequences caused by the Offa Robbery Case stating that no amount of Press Statement can overturn the reality.
The party confirmed this development during a World Press Conference on Saturday in response to Senator Bukola Saraki and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), following their allegations of a surreptitious plot by the state government regarding the 2018 Offa robbery incident.
In a press statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Abdulwaheed Olawale Babatunde, APC dismissed Saraki’s claims as melodramatic and advised the former Senate President to prepare for his day in court rather than seeking public sympathy through media rants.
The ruling party maintained that the charges recently slammed against Saraki and three others are rooted in existing judicial records and testimonies, arguing that the court deals with hard facts, not dramatic statements that seek to erase the facts of history.
“Senator Saraki’s denial of links with the murderers is laughable and characteristically deceitful, given the large volume of evidence to the contrary,” the statement read.
“The testimonies of the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Yusuf Abdulwahab, and Ayo Akinnibosun do not support Saraki’s claims, but we leave the court to do its work when the case begins in June.” the statement added.
The party lauded Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the boldness to bring the former governor to trial, emphasizing that the trial is a timely response to the national outcry for the unveiling and shaming of sponsors of criminal elements.
The party further alleged that the convicts have named his role in how they acquired guns and other logistics, adding that it is a matter of court record.
“It is a sacred and lawful duty of the state government to try him, it is then the prerogative of the court to either convict or discharge him.” They said.
Contrastingly, the ruling APC party portrayed Governor AbdulRazaq as being not bothered by the PDP’s noise, focusing instead on his administration’s developmental milestones.
“While PDP is busy re-litigating 2018 in press statements, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is building and commissioning schools, constructing roads, and ensuring salaries and pensions are paid on time. That is what unsettles the PDP: a government working without sharing Kwara’s treasury among political godfathers or arming thugs,” Babatunde added.
The party concluded by advising Saraki to save his explanations (shalaye) for the judicial process, warning that no amount of “media noise” would intimidate public institutions or stop the law from taking its course.
“The proper place to do explanations is the court, not Facebook or the media. No one is above the law. Kwarans are wiser now, they will not be dragged back to an era where government was run as a private estate,” the statement concluded.
