A former Commissioner in Kwara State, Hon. Mahalia Aisha Ahman Pategi, on Sunday, officially declared her intention to contest the 2027 governorship election, promising a leadership style rooted in maternal compassion and inclusive growth.
Aisha, who unveiled her manifesto titled ‘The People’s Prayers Answered,’ made the declaration at the Convolis Event Hall, Sango-Agric area of Ilorin, the state capital, amid cheers from a large crowd of supporters chanting “Mama Oyoyo.”
Speaking with hundreds of supporters in her remarks, the aspirant stated that her governance philosophy, dubbed the ‘Mama Oyoyo’ doctrine, focuses on the “Domino Effect,” where strategic investments in job creation are expected to naturally resolve the state’s security and stability challenges.

She said, “A mother does not choose which child to care for, she does not abandon the weak or neglect the struggling. That is the philosophy of Mama Oyoyo, not just a title, but a responsibility. When a mother leads, no one is left behind, every voice is included, and every life is valued.” She added.
Aisha’s economic blueprint rests on five strategic pillars including Agriculture, Commerce, Industry, Energy, and Innovation, specifically pledging to prioritize farm-to-market roads, solar energy solutions for small businesses, and the establishment of tech hubs to equip Kwara youth with Artificial Intelligence and robotics skills.
“We are not just looking to create jobs; we are looking to create wealth and ownership. Our 80/20 rule ensures we focus on the most critical actions that will deliver the maximum impact for the common man,” she added.
On social inclusion, the aspirant promised the establishment of the ‘Mama Oyoyo Women’s Network’ to facilitate access to capital for market women and create leadership pathways for the girl-child.
The declaration was attended by several political heavyweights, including the former Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Ezekiel; the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations to the Governor, Hon. Jerry Kolo; and other stakeholders within the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Speaking at the event, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Ezekiel described the aspirant as a tested hand whose entrance into the race would deepen the democratic process in the state.

The aspirant concluded by calling for unity across the three senatorial districts, maintaining that her mission is not to rule, but to serve and ensure that the resources of the state benefit all citizens regardless of their tribal or religious backgrounds.
