The former General Manager of Kwara Television, Olatunde Michaels Oyeyiola, has formally taken a major step toward contesting the 2027 Kwara South Senatorial District election after purchasing the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Oyeyiola, who is widely regarded as a leading aspirant in the race, made the declaration shortly after completing the process, stating emphatically that he is “the best man for the job” given his track record of leadership, innovation, and service.
“I am stepping forward at this critical time because Kwara South deserves experienced, visionary, and people-driven representation. I have the capacity, the competence, and the commitment to deliver,” he said.
The media executive pointed to his tenure as General Manager of Kwara Television as evidence of his leadership capability. During his time at the station, Oyeyiola was credited with spearheading reforms that repositioned Kwara TV into a more vibrant and competitive broadcast outfit, improving content delivery, operational efficiency, and audience reach.

Oyeyiola emphasized that his ambition is rooted in a desire to advance the socio-economic development of Kwara South, pledging to focus on youth empowerment, infrastructural development, education, and job creation if elected.
“Our district is rich in potential, but we must translate that potential into tangible progress. I am committed to being a voice that not only speaks but acts decisively in the interest of our people,” he added.
Back home in Kwara South, his supporters and political associates described his entry into the race as a welcome development, noting that his blend of administrative experience, grassroots appeal and vision for the region makes him a strong contender in the party’s forthcoming primaries.
Likewise, political observers believe his emergence could reshape the dynamics of the APC contest in Kwara South, as more aspirants are expected to join the race in the coming months. They note that Oyeyiola’s background in public communication and institutional management could resonate with a broad spectrum of voters across the senatorial district.
With the purchase of the nomination forms, the stage is now set for what is expected to be a keenly contested primary election within the APC, as aspirants jostle for the party’s ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.
