The purchase of the Expression of Interest Form by former Kwara Central Senator, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe has effectively put to rest speculations about his alleged withdrawal from the 2027 governorship race or endorsement of another aspirant.
Oloriegbe, who is contesting under the All Progressives Congress’s banner, formally obtained the form as part of the party’s nomination process, signalling clearly that he remains firmly in contention as the political landscape in Kwara State continues to evolve.
In recent days, rumours had circulated following a stakeholders’ endorsement gathering for one of the aspirants in Ilorin, reportedly convened by individuals acting in their personal capacities, including a member of Oloriegbe’s extended family who shares his surname. The development had fueled speculation about possible political realignment.
However, political observers note that the former senator’s latest move provides a definitive response, reaffirming his independent candidacy and sustained commitment to the race.
Reinforcing this position in a personal message shared on his verified social media handles, Oloriegbe stated: “I am pleased to inform our supporters, well-wishers and people of Kwara State and beyond that I’ve formally taken another decisive step in this journey with the purchase of my Expression of Interest Form under the platform of the APC. The form has also been signed by 120 bonfire APC members from across the 16 Local Government in the State. This is not just a procedural milestone—it is a reaffirmation of my commitment to serve and to offer my very best in the interest of our dear state. I remain fully guided by the belief that leadership must be anchored on competence, experience, and a clear capacity to deliver measurable results.”
He further assured stakeholders that: “As the process unfolds, I am giving this aspiration my utmost effort—driven by a sense of duty, strengthened by experience, and focused on advancing the progress we all desire.”
With this development, attention is expected to intensify around his ambition as the APC prepares for its primary elections, with multiple aspirants positioning for the party’s ticket.
