2027: Raising the Bar of Leadership in Kwara APC

The political evolution of Kwara State demands a deliberate shift in how we define leadership and evaluate those who seek public office. As a stakeholder within the All Progressives Congress (APC), I strongly believe that the time has come for Kwarans to raise the bar and insist on leadership that is anchored on character, competence, and capacity. Anything less risks slowing down the progress we have collectively worked hard to achieve.

For too long, our political space has, at different times, been influenced by sentiments that do not necessarily reflect the quality of governance required to move the state forward. We must now transition from the outdated practice of accepting “whatever is available” to a more mature democratic culture that prioritizes what is genuinely offered in terms of vision, capacity, and proven ability to deliver results.

It is in this context that the emergence of Prof. Wale Sulaiman, CON, into the Kwara political space stands out as a defining moment. His entry has introduced a new dimension to political conversations in the state—one that is increasingly focused on competence, global exposure, institutional thinking, and a results-oriented approach to governance.

Prof. Sulaiman is widely recognized for his integrity, professional excellence, and track record in public service and healthcare system development. His contributions during his tenure as Special Adviser on Health Matters, particularly in strengthening critical health interventions, reflect a leadership style rooted in impact rather than rhetoric. These are qualities that cannot be ignored in a serious political contest.

What further strengthens his appeal is his consistent posture as a unifier within the APC. At a time when political divisions can weaken collective progress, he has continued to emphasize cohesion, party discipline, and inclusive engagement. This approach aligns closely with the broader vision of sustaining the developmental foundation laid under the leadership of His Excellency, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, CON.

I am therefore confident that Prof. Wale Sulaiman represents not just another aspirant, but a reinforcement of the kind of leadership Kwara State needs at this stage of its development journey. His emergence challenges us all to rethink our political choices and prioritize substance over sentiment.

If Kwara must continue on the path of progress, then leadership must be defined by proven capacity and unquestionable character. On this basis, I express my full confidence in Prof. Wale Sulaiman’s ability to consolidate and sustain the legacy of transformational governance already underway in our state.
