KWASU Discontinues Top-Up/HND Conversion Programme for 2025/2026 Session

The management of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete has officially announced the discontinuation of its Top-Up and HND Conversion programme effective from the 2025/2026 academic session.

The decision was communicated through a public announcement signed by the University Registrar, **Dr. Kikelomo W. Sallee and made available to 9japarrot, citing the need to align with national academic standards.

The university clarified that the move is in strict compliance with the regulations set by the National Universities Commission (NUC), the statutory body responsible for the regulation of university education in Nigeria.

The NUC has recently been reviewing the frameworks for HND-to-Degree conversion programmes across the country to ensure quality assurance and uniformity in the Nigerian University System (NUS).

Regarding the fate of students currently enrolled in the programme, the University management noted that their status remains a priority.

“The NUC will give directives on the status of students already enrolled on the programme in KWASU in due course,” the statement read.

The university has urged affected students and stakeholders to remain patient as the regulatory body provides further guidance on the transition or completion phase.

KWASU reaffirmed its standing as a law-abiding institution, stressing its dedication to maintaining the highest ethical and academic standards.

“Kwara State University, Malete, is firmly committed to ethical standards and abides by all the policies of the regulatory body,” the Registrar added.
