By Nurat Uthman

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) announced on Monday that it had eliminated a number of Boko Haram/Islamic States of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists through air strikes in the Tumbuns area near Lake Chad in Borno.

In a statement, the Director of Public Relations and Information for NAF, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, stated that the air strikes had destroyed the terrorists’ hiding places, as well as their structures and strategic logistics base in the region.

The strikes were carried out between September 27 and September 30 at Tumbun Fulani and Tumbun Shitu, after confirmation of the terrorists’ activities that posed a threat to military formations and law-abiding Nigerians living in the area.

At Tumbun Fulani, terrorists were seen loading jerricans into two concealed guntrucks.

NAF aircraft were then sent to intercept the location, which was believed to be a major logistics base.

Following the strike, it was discovered that several terrorists were neutralized and the guntrucks destroyed.

Similar strikes were also conducted at Tumbun Shitu, where structures suspected to be terrorist hideouts were observed under dense foliage.

Three gun trucks carrying terrorists were spotted entering the location, leading to the decision to strike.

After the air strike, it was found that multiple terrorists were neutralized and the trucks destroyed.

The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) remain committed to significantly reducing terrorist activities in the Northeast and other parts of the country.

The operational successes achieved by the AFN demonstrate improved cooperation among all security agencies, as well as the unwavering support of all Nigerians.
