The Oyo State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) has suspended its indefinite strike following a review of the security situation across the state.
The union had embarked on the industrial action after the recent abduction of schoolchildren in Ogbomoso, located in Orire Local Government Area, citing concerns over the safety of schools and the need for improved security measures.
In a statement jointly signed by the state NUT Chairman, Hassan Fatai, and Secretary, Olukayode Salami, the union said the decision to suspend the strike followed consultations and appeals from the Oyo State Government and other stakeholders.
The suspension of the strike paves the way for teachers to return to classrooms across the state.
