Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has disclosed that his administration has completed more than 300 kilometres of intra-city roads across the state since assuming office.
The governor made this known on Wednesday during the official inauguration of the Lameco Flyover Bridge in Osogbo. He commended residents for their patience during the construction period, which disrupted traffic flow, and praised the contractors and workers for delivering the project on schedule.
Adeleke said the flyover and other major projects were executed with due process and transparency without compromising the state’s future. He described the bridge as evidence that Nigerian engineers can deliver world-class infrastructure and revealed that his administration has also completed over 27 kilometres of intra-city roads in Osogbo and more than 10 mega projects that are ready for commissioning.
The governor urged the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure and community stakeholders to protect the facility, warning against street trading, vandalism of railings and lights, and reckless driving on the bridge.
In his goodwill message, the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, described the project as strategic, saying it would improve human and vehicular movement and boost socio-economic activities in the metropolis.
Ahead of the commissioning, the state government temporarily closed roads leading to the newly constructed five-span flyover to ensure public safety and the smooth conduct of the ceremony, according to a notice issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Bashir Bello.
