Arab Nations Condemn Deadly Damascus Café Bombing

Jordan, Qatar, Egypt and Iraq have condemned the deadly bomb explosion that struck a café in central Damascus, Syria, killing at least six people and injuring 22 others.

The blast occurred on Thursday at a café on Al-Nasr Street near the Justice Palace, one of the busiest areas in the Syrian capital. According to Syrian authorities, an explosive device planted inside the café detonated, while security agencies have launched an investigation into the incident. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

In separate statements, the four Arab countries denounced the bombing as a terrorist act targeting civilians and reaffirmed their solidarity with Syria.

Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the explosion as a terrorist attack and reiterated Amman’s support for Syria’s security, stability, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Qatar also condemned the attack, reaffirming its rejection of violence, terrorism and criminal acts regardless of their motives, while extending condolences to the Syrian government and the families of the victims.

Egypt’s Foreign Ministry said the bombing represented another attempt to undermine security and stability, stressing Cairo’s opposition to all forms of violence and terrorism aimed at terrorising innocent civilians.

Similarly, Iraq’s Foreign Ministry condemned the explosion, describing it as a violation of humanitarian values and international law, while expressing solidarity with the Syrian people in the wake of the attack.

The bombing has renewed concerns over security in Syria as authorities continue investigations to identify those responsible for the attack.
