APC Elders Forum Demands Retention of Hon. Oyeyemi Florence Olasumbo as Irepodun/Isin/Ekiti/Oke-Ero Candidate

The Forum of All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders has called on the leadership of the party to uphold the outcome of the House of Representatives primary election for the Irepodun/Isin/Ekiti/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency, insisting that the name of Hon. Oyeyemi Florence Olasumbo should remain the party’s candidate for the 2027 general election.

The forum maintained that Hon. Olasumbo emerged as the winner of the APC primary election and urged the party not to alter the candidate submitted following the exercise.

In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Former Chairman of Ekiti LGA, Hon. Ayeni Yinka Dallas and made available to 9japarrot media, the elders described the outcome of the primary as a reflection of the democratic will of party delegates, stressing that it should be respected in the interest of fairness, justice and the integrity of the APC’s internal democratic process.

The forum also argued that retaining Hon. Olasumbo as the party’s candidate would promote gender balance and encourage greater participation of women in elective politics.

According to the elders, preserving the outcome of the primary would reinforce confidence in the party’s democratic institutions and demonstrate its commitment to transparent and credible candidate selection.

The group appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and the APC leadership at both the national and state levels to ensure that the decision reached through the party’s primary election is respected.

The forum urged party leaders to maintain Hon. Oyeyemi Florence Olasumbo’s name as the APC candidate for the Irepodun/Isin/Ekiti/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency, insisting that doing so would uphold internal democracy and strengthen party unity ahead of the 2027 general election.
