Traditional Rulers Call on Tinubu, AbdulRazaq, APC NWC to Zone Moro/Edu/Patigi House of Reps Ticket to Moro LG

A coalition of traditional rulers and community leaders in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and other party stakeholders to zone the party’s House of Representatives ticket for the Moro/Edu/Patigi Federal Constituency to Moro Local Government ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The appeal was made on Tuesday July 7, during a press conference covered live by 9japarrot media jointly and convened by the Chairman of the Baale Moro Forum, Chief Mathew Alabi and the Baale of Bode Saadu, Barrister Bolakale Yusuf; and Ibrahim Adebara, who sat on behalf of the Oba of Jebba.

The traditional rulers said the appeal was made on behalf of the people of Moro Local Government, citing what they described as the area’s long-standing loyalty and unwavering support for the APC and progressive politics.

According to them, Moro has consistently delivered electoral victories for the APC since the return of democratic rule in 1999 but has yet to produce a member of the House of Representatives for the federal constituency during the current political dispensation.

The elders argued that despite the local government’s commitment to the party, it had not been adequately rewarded with the federal legislative seat, describing the situation as unfair, noting that “other local government areas within the constituency, including Edu and Patigi, had at different times produced representatives in both the Senate and the House of Representatives, while Moro had remained without such an opportunity.”

The community leaders therefore urged the APC leadership at the national and state levels to consider the principle of equity and fairness by supporting the emergence of a candidate from Moro Local Government for the House of Representatives seat.

They also appealed to the traditional rulers in Edu and Patigi Local Government Areas to sympathetically consider Moro’s position and support the call for equitable power sharing within the constituency.

“We think that we have waited long enough to be rewarded and compensated for our loyalty and support for the APC,” the elders said, stating that “the people of Moro have consistently given their block votes to the party in successive elections.”

The traditional rulers expressed optimism that their appeal would receive favourable consideration from President Tinubu, Governor AbdulRazaq, the APC National Working Committee and other stakeholders, saying the move would promote justice, unity and inclusiveness within the party ahead of the forthcoming 2027 elections.
