Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has backed Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to join the elite group of managers who have won consecutive Premier League titles.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ferdinand highlighted Arteta’s experience compared with the other managers competing for the title this season, insisting that the Spaniard now knows what it takes to win at the highest level.
The former England international also predicted a period of dominance for Arsenal, saying the Gunners could establish themselves as the leading force in English football in the coming years.
“The experience Mikel Arteta has compared to the others is night and day. He knows how to win now as well,” Ferdinand said.
“Not many managers have won back-to-back Premier League titles, but I think Mikel Arteta is going to join that club.
“I think this is going to be a period of dominance for Arsenal.”
Arsenal began their title defence in impressive fashion last Friday, defeating Coventry 3-0.
The Premier League champions will be looking to maintain their winning start when they travel to Aston Villa next Monday for their second league fixture.
