Monchi, Espanyol’s sporting director, has named the player he believes deserves to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or.
Speaking to the media at a recent event, as reported by SPORT, Monchi was asked in depth about several topics in football.
One of the most interesting questions he was faced with was on the 2026 Ballon d’Or.
When asked which player he considered the most deserving candidate for the prestigious award.
Monchi simply said, “It’s complicated. I think there is a case for three or four players who can qualify for it.”
“I do shoot for being Spanish, I think Lamine would deserve it,” he added.
Yamal will face strong competition from Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe and Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane.
