PSG’s Kvaratskhelia to Undergo Surgery After ACL Tear

Paris Saint-Germain winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is set to undergo surgery after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee during the club’s 4-2 Champions League victory over Barcelona.

PSG confirmed the injury in a statement on Wednesday, saying the Georgia international would undergo surgery in the coming days.

Kvaratskhelia was forced off shortly before the hour mark after collapsing on the pitch without apparent contact during Tuesday’s league-phase encounter at the Parc des Princes.

The 25-year-old has been instrumental in PSG’s recent Champions League success and is among the contenders for the Ballon d’Or, which is scheduled to be awarded on Monday.

Meanwhile, PSG have also confirmed that forward Ousmane Dembele and central defender Marquinhos will be sidelined for several weeks due to thigh injuries.

The injuries represent a setback for the European champions as they contend with multiple absences in their squad.
