Kwara NNPP Candidate, Omokanye Visits Emir of Ilorin, Inaugurates Campaign Council

The Governorship Candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kwara State, Prince David Adetoyese Omokanye, has described royal institutions as vital, indispensable pillars for sustaining peace, grassroots unity, and the nation’s democratic development.

Prince Omokanye stated this on Tuesday during a royal courtesy visit to the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Chiefs, His Royal Highness Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, at his palace in Ilorin, Kwara State.

The Erin-Ile-born prince touched down at the palace alongside his running mate, Hajia Zururat Romoke Zubair, state party leaders led by Kwara NNPP Chairman Alhaji Isiaka Akanni Lamidi (Shoku), and key political stakeholders following his arrival in the state capital.

Speaking at the palace, Prince Omokanye emphasized the necessity of seeking traditional counsel and royal blessings before flagging off political activities.

“Royal institutions are an integral part of developing our nation’s democracy and preserving social cohesion,” Omokanye stated.

“Paying royal homage to His Royal Highness before the official flag-off of our party’s campaign and the constitution of our campaign council is aimed at receiving royal blessings and demonstrating that traditional institutions will be an active, consulted partner in our administration when elected to office.” He added.

Reiterating the campaign’s commitment to community-driven progress, the Deputy Governorship Candidate, Hajia Zururat Romoke Zubair, added that Prince Omokanye has demonstrated through his actions that he is a true son of the soil who understands the values, traditions, and aspirations of Kwara citizens across all three senatorial districts.

Showering royal blessings on the delegation, the Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, commended the candidate for recognizing the importance of traditional institutions and urged all political actors to maintain peace, mutual respect, and issue-based engagements as the state approaches the 2027 elections.

“Politics must be conducted with decorum, maturity, and a genuine commitment to the peace and progress of our communities,” the Emir stated.

“We pray that Almighty Allah grants you wisdom, protects our state from rancor, and guides all political leaders to prioritize the welfare, security, and harmonious coexistence of the Kwara people above all else.” the revered monarch added.

During the visit, Prince Omokanye and Hajia Zubair made a symbolic presentation of a framed Qur’anic artwork to the monarch.

Following the palace visit, the delegation proceeded amidst a large crowd of party faithful to the Kwara NNPP Campaign Secretariat along Emir’s Road, Taiwo Isale, Ilorin, for the formal inauguration of the State Campaign Council.

At the secretariat, the National Auditor of the NNPP, Comrade Olayinka Olabode Dada JP, representing the National Headquarters, officially inaugurated the campaign structure and presented appointment letters to the newly designated campaign executives.

During the ceremony, Hon. Isiaka Toyin Wara was officially announced and inaugurated as the Director General of the Kwara State NNPP Campaign Council.

Addressing the newly appointed executives following the inauguration, Prince Omokanye charged the campaign council to embark on robust, issue-based grassroots mobilization across all 193 wards in Kwara State.

“The inauguration of this campaign council marks the official start of our journey to offer Kwara State a vibrant, people-centered governance alternative,” Omokanye said.

“We are committed to delivering real development, economic empowerment, and accountable leadership that reflects the true desires of our people.” He added.
