Okonkwo Links Tinubu’s Planned Makkah Trip to Alleged Health Concerns

Kenneth Okonkwo, spokesperson for African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, has alleged that President Bola Tinubu’s planned trip to Makkah, Saudi Arabia, is connected to concerns over his health.

DAILY POST reports that Tinubu is expected to depart Abuja on Thursday for Makkah to perform Umrah, the Islamic lesser pilgrimage.

According to the Presidency, the president will use the trip to pray for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability and progress.

However, opposition figures have raised concerns over what they describe as an alleged lack of transparency regarding the president’s health.

Reacting to the planned trip in a post on his official X handle on Thursday, Okonkwo accused Tinubu of taking the name of God in vain by travelling to Makkah to pray for Nigeria when, according to him, the president should first pray for himself.

The ADC chieftain also argued that praying for the president would become more difficult if he continued to conceal his reasons for travelling outside the country.
