A former chairman of Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Alhaji Sharu Anka has left the All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Anka disclosed his resignation in a letter on Tuesday, blaming unresolved internal crises and a lack of fairness within the APC for his decision.
He said injustice, unequal opportunities and disunity among party leaders had made it hard for him to remain in the party.
“Let me formally announce that I was forced to leave the APC by the high rate of injustice, denials of equal opportunity and indisputable lack of unity and understanding, especially in the system of running the affairs of the party,” he said.
Anka also accused some party members of ignoring the contributions of others while allowing a small group to dominate the party’s affairs.
“There is total neglect and failure to recognise contributions given by the party members, and some cliques in the APC have turned the party into an unbearable style of family and friends’ affairs,” he added.
The former council chairman said his political supporters across Zamfara State had also moved with him to the ADC.
Anka is an experienced grassroots politician who served two terms as chairman of Anka Local Government Area.
He also served four times as a commissioner overseeing different ministries under successive administrations in the state.
