By Nurat Uthman

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has advised drivers to replace worn-out tires and wipers to prevent unnecessary accidents during the rainy season.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), FRSC spokesperson, Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM) Bisi Kazeem, emphasized the importance of conducting pre-vehicle use checks and ensuring that vehicles are in good working condition.

Kazeem urged motorists to clean both the inside and outside of windows and windshields before embarking on a journey during the rainy season.

He also stressed the need to regularly check headlights, brake lights, turn signals, tail lights, and windscreen wipers for proper functioning. Kazeem recommended keeping the lights on during the day and night when it starts raining.

Additionally, he advised drivers to reduce their speed and adhere to common sense speed limits due to slippery road surfaces. Kazeem highlighted the significance of ensuring adequate tire grip on the road, as tires are crucial for maintaining vehicle traction.

Lastly, he appealed to motorists to avoid negative behaviors such as drunk driving, smoking substances, dangerous driving, overloading, exceeding speed limits, and using phones while driving.
