The historic city of Kano experienced great excitement on Friday as prominent figures such as Vice President Kashim Shettima, Labour Party Presidential candidate Peter Obi, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas visited the state for the wedding of Senator Barau Jibrin’s son, Abdullahi.
The wedding ceremony, which took place at Isyaku Rabi’u Juma’at mosque, had Vice President Shettima representing the groom, while Speaker Tajudeen Abbas stood in for the bride, Bilkisu Madaki, daughter of Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rep Aliyu Sani Madaki. The marriage was officiated by Chief Imam Sheikh Abdullahi Mahmud Salga, after a dowry of N500,000 was paid.
The wedding was attended by several dignitaries including governors, lawmakers, politicians, and well-wishers. Senate President Godswill Akpabio expressed that the presence of Peter Obi at the ceremony demonstrated a united Nigeria.
He further stated that the large number of high-profile individuals in attendance affirmed Senator Barau Jibrin’s reputation as a peaceful representative of the people.
Akpabio remarked, “The fact that LP Presidential Candidate Peter Obi and his supporters are present here shows that Nigeria will remain a united nation.”
