
The Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, announced that his administration will continue to support programs aimed at alleviating the socio-economic hardship faced by the people of Kwara State.
The Governor made this statement on Saturday during the launch of the Special National Economic Livelihood Emergency Intervention (SNELEI) for the victims of the 2022 flood disaster and the vulnerable individuals in Ilorin, Kwara.
Representing the Governor, Deputy Governor Mr Kayode Alabi expressed the administration’s willingness to collaborate with organizations or individuals dedicated to the development of the state.
He praised the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) for their Enumeration Exercise, which identified the victims of the flood disaster in twelve Local Government areas in the State and collected data on the vulnerable individuals in order to provide assistance. The Governor reiterated that the 2022 flood incident had a significant impact on many communities in the state, resulting in the displacement of a large number of people and the destruction of farmlands and crops, leading to substantial financial losses.
AbdulRahaman expressed his gratitude to the Federal Government, through NEMA, for their timely intervention and urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the provided items. He also mentioned that the Kwara State Government had previously supported victims of natural disasters.
