A clash between Boko Haram and the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) in Borno State resulted in the deaths of over 41 terrorists, including their commanders.

The ISWAP militants launched an attack on the Bakoura Buduma-led faction of Boko Haram in Duguri, Kukawa Local Government Area.

Both sides suffered heavy casualties, with the ISWAP dealing a significant blow to Boko Haram and killing several of their commanders.

Some of the commanders killed were Modu Kayi, Abbah Musa, Isa Muhammed, Ibrahim Ali, Kanai Zakariya, Bula Salam, Isuhu Alhaji Umaru, Dogo Salman, and Abdulrahman Malam Musa.

Clashes between Boko Haram and ISWAP have become more frequent and intense, particularly in the Sambisa forest and the Lake Chad region in Borno State.

ISWAP has gained an advantage since the defection of Abou Idris, a former chief of operations of Boko Haram, who joined ISWAP to fight against his former group.
