Rotimi Akeredolu, the Governor of Ondo state, has returned to Nigeria after his medical trip abroad, as reported by Daily Trust.
A reliable source within the government confirmed his return on Thursday.
The source, who wished to remain anonymous, stated that Governor Akeredolu arrived in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state, and will be resting at his private residence.
The source also mentioned that some members of the cabinet are on their way to welcome him back. A photograph posted by Akeredolu’s wife, Betty Anyanwu, on social media shows him on his way home.
The governor had left Nigeria for a 21-day medical trip to Germany, with plans to return on July 6, 2023.
However, his extended stay caused controversy and political disputes in the state. On July 15, he announced that his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, would assume the role of acting governor until he is certified fit to resume his duties by his medical doctors.
