The Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Saliu Mustapha has been commended for distributing multimillion Naira food palliatives during the festive periods.
The commendations which came from far and near underscored the strategic nature of the distribution of the food palliatives by Mustapha, who’s also the Chairman Senate Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development.
A cross section of beneficiaries of the palliatives, who spoke to this medium described the distribution as strategic and far-reaching.
First to comment was Alhaji Uthman Jagunma, the Publicity Secretary of the Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Associations (IEYDA). He said the food palliatives touched the nooks and corners of the community within the limit of the available resources.
Also commenting, the Secretary of the Kwara State Artisans Congress, Mallam Jimba Abdulrazaq said the food palliatives, which included several bags of rice were distributed among virtually all the affiliate groups of the union. He said it was the first time a politician would reach across the affiliates of the union in as comprehensive as the Turaki did.
A political leader, Alhaji Tajudeen Sekoni said the political class, especially members and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara Central felt the impact of the food distribution during the festive season. He commended Senator Mustapha for the timelineness of the distribution.
Meanwhile, while speaking with our correspondent, the Legislative Aide to Senator Saliu Mustapha, Alhaji AbdulRahman Babatunde said the palliative was worth over 200million and was inclusive of several thousands of bags of rice and chicken.
He commended the Senator for the timelineness of the distribution. He also commended both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazak for their giant strides in alleviating poverty and hunger in the country.
“The distribution is timely. It’s coming at a time that the Kwara State Governments led by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazak just recently concluded her distribution of palliatives which equally reached every part of the state,” he said.
