Insecurity: Senator Ashiru, Lawmakers Meet Community Leaders, Chart Ways On Improved Security, Infrastructure Devt In Kwara South



The Deputy Senate Leader and the senator representing Kwara South Senatorial District, Sen, Oyelola Ashiru, today, meet community development leaders in the senatorial district.

In his opening remarks, the senator highlights the importance of the promising gathering, emphasizing that its purpose is to establish trust between legislators and the public. The goal is to listen to the concerns of the communities and foster closer relationships between politicians and the people they serve.

According to his statement, he expressed a desire for the community to have faith in their leadership as it was the community’s votes that secured their positions.

He also urged the community to support and cooperate with them, as they were fulfilling the community’s wishes. In all their endeavors and initiatives, the community’s active participation was essential, just as they would reciprocate that involvement.

“Let’s begin interaction to promote our culture, our heritage and our tradition. We need each other to make Kwara South grow, It is important for us to interact”. He added.

The Kwara State House of Assembly Deputy Speaker, Hon. Ojo Olayiwola, representing Odo-Ogun State Constituency, commends the senator for the initiative, urged that there should be an effort to bridge the gap between the community and politicians in order to promote development, foster unity, and facilitate effective communication.

Elder Oyin Zubair from Igbaja, commended the Senator and all Lawmakers present for the dignifying meeting, while appealing for the continuation of the meetings, as it will douse any form of misconceptions and miscommunication.

He further commented on the alarming state of insecurity in Kwara South while urging for more mobility to enhance the efficiency of the security operatives.

Mr. Oyebanji Segun, from Olorundara phase 1 and 2, Ganmo, on his appreciated the Senator and the two Law markers from Ifelodun for all their activities and prays for their success in the office.

Chief Bisi Oloruntoba, affirms that unity and love have been established in Kwara South, for this maiden interaction between the lawmakers and the community development union.

He advocated that the Senatorial District should come together and support the conversion of Oro College of Education into a University of Education.

He added that, that the senator should consider the construction of Edidi to Agunji road that covers about 12 communities and 25 kilometers Oke-Onigbin to Isanlu road, justifying that the road will ease movement from other axis of Kwara South and that it will promote agricultural economy of the axis.

Mr. Ayanda Jacob, from Isanlu-Isin, requested for more medical centers, stating there is only one referral hospital in the whole of Isin Local Government, appeals to the senator to look into Isanlu-Isin – Owa Kajola road as this will also increase traffick to the tourist center, Owu Fall.

Mr, Oni Adebayo Joseph, Idofin-Igbana Development Union, appreciated the senator for his vision in tourism development and urged him not to deter in this vision, stating that it is a long term goal.

Mr. Emmanuel Oladepo Asaolu, National Secretary llofa Descendant Union, on his part lauded the Lawmakers for the initiative and assures that the community will always support and be receptive to accommodate all elective officers for effective collaboration for development.

Arc. Olu Joseph From Osi, Commended the Ekiti Local Government TIC Chairman, Hon. Kehinde Bayode and Hon. Gani Abolarin, State House of Assembly member, Representing Ekiti Local Government, for their projects and activities in curbing insecurity in the Local Government.

He appeals for road construction of Isapa – Idofin-Koro-Eruku-Osi- Isare- Ekerin-Ajuba, and Oke opin Township road, Osi-Obbo Dam, and for the runnings of KWASU Osi Campus.

Recounting the space of Kidnapping in his town, Hon. Oladokun Kayode, from Obbo Aiyegunle, observed that bad roads are making kidnappers have their way, he decried that his community has spent over 38 million for ransom within the space of 3 years.

Chief Rafiu Oyeyemi Balogun (SAN) National president, Igosun Descendant Progressive Union and General Secretary Ibolo Peace Parley, emphasizes the importance of Ila Orangun road through Igosun.

Mr. Tajudeen Bello, Offa Development Union National Vice president, commended the lawmakers for their vision for the senatorial district while appealing that all projects should be channeled through ODU.

In a separate remark, Hon. GBENGA Yusuf representing Essa/Shawo/Igboidun and Hon. Rasaq Owolabi, representing Share/Oke-Ode advocates for more interactive sessions with the lawmakers, stating that It is a genuine meeting with good intentions devoid of political underlining.

In attendance also include, the Kwara South House of Assembly Members, Ekiti TIC Chairman, Offa TIC Chairman, Community and District Development Unions, community Stakeholders among others.
